Ukraine
If we were birds would you fly with me?
Would you let my wings touch yours as we flew through Europe,
heading towards a quiet spot
We would have a soft landing on a fence
trying to hold on
We would continue to an open country house
have a drink – or two
shaking our feathers together
And as we sat there, Ukraine
we would watch the evening enter
bringing in its wisdom
saying, like;
the day will come when the sleep is better
the day will come when the balance has its colour back
Stay with me, Ukraine
Fly with me
But if we never meet,
it is still like we are
wobbling on a branch in the rising of spring
